Under the Scorching Sun: How Can Machines Cope with Global Warming?​In the context of global warming, rising temperatures pose challenges across various industries, especially those requiring high precision machining. Even minor temperature fluctuations can cause the metal inside machines to expand and deform, thereby affecting machining accuracy. Maintaining high precision in such an environment has become a significant challenge for the industry. AI thermal displacement compensation technology, as an innovative solution, is revolutionizing traditional mechanical methods by providing stable and efficient machining precision.​Limitations of Traditional Methods​Some manufacturers rely on traditional mechanical methods to control thermal displacement. They use nuts with a preload value between 0.06 mm to 0.07 mm and perform preloading at the motor end, securing the tail end with precision nuts to tighten the bearings. This method mainly relies on the bearing clearance to control temperature rise, but it shortens the bearing's lifespan. Experiment data shows that while this method can control within 0.1 mm before in the beginning, its stability and durability are insufficient.​Breakthroughs with AI Thermal Displacement Compensation Technology​AI thermal displacement compensation technology is different. It collects temperature information through multiple sensors and uses AI to generate a thermal displacement model that predicts and corrects the machining point's displacement. In this way, the impact of temperature changes on machining accuracy can be effectively suppressed. This technology not only improves machining precision but also shortens the warm-up time, achieving energy savings. Additionally, it reduces tool wear caused by thermal displacement.​Experiments and Applications​In tests conducted by Yida, the AI thermal displacement compensation technology was applied to the EV-860 vertical machining center. The results showed that even in normal room temperature environments, this technology could collect and compensate data, achieving high-precision stable machining. The AI thermal displacement model generates a reliable correction model based on temperature information and thermal displacement measurements, suitable for different machine models.​Experiment Data indicates that AI thermal displacement compensation technology can significantly reduce thermal displacement. Before temperature compensation, the accuracy was within 0.03 mm, but after compensation, it can be controlled within 0.01 mm, reducing error by 57%.Preparing for the FutureThe application of AI thermal displacement compensation technology in controlling machine tool thermal behavior demonstrates its enormous potential in improving machining precision and efficiency.
